Sight Word Stones

Over winter break I created a new sight word center that I have been wanting to do for awhile now!  I am so excited about it and my kids love it.

I won't even attempt to take credit for it because I saw it on Pinterest....or a blog, maybe.....I don't even remember where.  But once I saw it, I knew I had to have it.

All you need are some clear stones from Dollar Tree, some Modge Podge, and your list of sight words.

I used this list from The Curriculum Corner and aside from a couple longer words, they were the perfect size!

To create your stones, simply cut out your words, match them to a stone that fits, and modge podge the words to the flat side of the stone.

After I had them all made, I put them into a container with rice.  I decided on rice because it is less messy than sand!

Students loved hunting for words and rainbow writing them in their notebooks.  Next week, we will work on using them in sentences!
