Subtraction Bowling

This post has been sitting in my drafts list for awhile now, but I figure it is better late than never!

I recently had a practicum student in my classroom that wanted to teach a lesson for our subtraction unit.  She found the ever popular subtraction bowling on Pinterest and we figured we would give it a try.

She went out and picked up plastic bathroom cups and golf balls.  We set up our "bowling pins" (the cups) and showed the kids how to knock down their pins with their golf ball.  We gave them the bowling pin paper inside of a dry erase envelope so that they could play over and over again.  Then we let them play!

The kids had to roll the ball to knock down their pins. Then they had to X out the number of pins that fell down on their recording page.  Then they recorded it as a subtraction equation.

They had so much fun!
